About me
I started my YouTube channel because I wanted to teach music a little differently.
Like a lot of musicians, I spent years practicing scales, exercises, patterns, songs, and theory. All of those things helped me become a better player — but over time, I realized that knowing what to practice and understanding what you’re actually doing are two very different things.
That idea has become the foundation of the way I teach.
I don’t want to simply give you another scale to memorize, another lick to learn, or another exercise to add to your practice routine. I want to help you understand why the music works, how the pieces fit together, and how to turn that understanding into something you can actually hear and use on your instrument.
That’s also why I created Tonetics.
Tonetics is an extension of what I started on YouTube — a place where I can give musicians more than a video. Here you’ll find downloadable exercises, PDFs, backing tracks, and other resources designed to help you take the concepts from my lessons and actually put them into practice. I’ll continue adding new material as the channel and community grow.
And this is only the beginning.
I’m also developing the Tonetics app around the same philosophy: making music theory more visual, interactive, and connected to the music you’re actually playing. My goal is to help bridge the gap between your ears, your instrument, and your understanding of harmony — so theory becomes something you can see, hear, and use rather than simply memorize.
Ultimately, everything I’m building has the same purpose:
To help you understand music more deeply, practice with intention, and develop the freedom to create your own music.

A little about me
I grew up in Maine as the youngest of a large family and fell in love with music at an early age. I went on to study music performance in college, but eventually decided to leave school and move to New Orleans to pursue music professionally.
For more than 15 years, I’ve made my living as a performing musician — touring, traveling, and playing thousands of gigs around the world. Much of what I teach today comes not only from what I learned in school or the practice room, but from years spent on stage learning what it actually takes to make music with other musicians.
Now I want to take everything I’ve learned along the way and share it with you.
That’s what Tonetics is about: helping musicians turn knowledge into understanding — and understanding into music.
